Spatial image evolution of the Rydberg nonlinear process controlled by a multiparameter probe field EI Scopus SCIE

Abstract :

We report the regularity of experimental evolution of Rydberg six-wave mixing (SWM) spatial images that were effectively controlled by adjusting various probe field parameters. Due to the high-order nonlinear Rydberg process, evolution of the spatial defocusing and splitting was observed by changing the detuning, polarization, and power of the probe field. Modulated spatial images obtained in a Rydberg nonlinear medium were found to be related to the refractive index. This study clarifies the spatial transmission rules for Rydberg SWM, which can be used to study the light field modulation of space imaging of a Rydberg atom ensemble and can provide evidence for the design of advanced materials. © 2018 Elsevier B.V.

Abstract :

In this paper, we theoretically and experimentally demonstrate a novel nondestructive optical detection method by coherently exciting and controlling the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT)-assisted six-wave mixing (SWM) process of S state Rydberg atoms in Rb-85 vapour. By analysing the evolution regularity of the resonant SWM signals under various conditions, one can control the signal by altering the atom density and detuning and the strengths of the probe and coupling fields. The characteristics of this SWM process provide a potential application for spectroscopy physics and determining the interactions between optical fields and atoms.

Abstract :

Eight-wave mixing (EWM) is a seven-order nonlinear process that can reflect nonclassical features within multiple optical fields, thus imparting certain advantages. In this study, we directly observed the EWM spectrum and spatial images that show Rydberg atoms under a circularly polarized probe field in a five-level coherently prepared atomic system. Such circular polarization dressing fields can obtain high-contrast Rydberg EWM overcome the difficulties of several multi-wave mixing (MWM) signals always coexist, and the multi-parameter controlling Rydberg EWM mechanism is established by changing the power and detuning and polarization of the dressing fields. These controllable high-order MWM processes present a contrast ratio of 96% and a narrow linewidth of <30 MHz compared with low-order mixing processes under identical conditions (e.g., six-wave mixing). The corresponding MWM spatial images are presented, and they can partly reflect the underlying nonlinear phase variation, whereas the given theory can predict the experimental results. Interaction between helical phase and Kerr nonlinear phase in vortex four- and six-wave mixing SCIE

We analyze the properties of vortex probe transmission signal (PTS), four-wave mixing (FWM) and six-wave mixing (SWM) via photonic band gap in an atomic ensemble with different topological charge (m = 1,2,3). We demonstrate the transfer of orbital angular momentum (OAM) from probe to SWM in experiment. We show that the shapes of vortex SWM and FWM spots intensity have been manipulated by the interaction, which can be modulated by the detuning and topological charge of related fields, between helical phase and nonlinear phase. Due to the stronger interaction, the shape of vortex FWM and SWM with m = 2, m = 3 are strongly destroyed compared to m = 1. Such results could have potential applications in logical gates for quantum computation. Copyright (C) EPLA, 2018.

Abstract :

We study different dressing effects in parametrically amplified four-wave mixing (PA-FWM) processes. By seeding a weak probe laser into the Stokes or anti-Stokes channel of the FWM, the gain process is generated in the so-called bright twin beams which are the probe and conjugate beams. The dressing types dramatically affect the gain factors in both the probe and conjugate channels. The gain factor of the FWM signal decreases under the cascade-type dressing and the signal's shape splits into two dips under this dressing type. However, the intensity of the FWM signal changes from suppression to enhancement under the parallel-type dressing. We will apply this switching process to all-optical switching. Flip-flop Converter of Dual-bistability Using Cavity and Parametric Amplified Four-Wave Mixing SCIE PubMed Scopus

Abstract :

We study the realization of dual-bistability flip-flop converter in cavity and parametrically amplified four-wave mixing (FWM) process at a four-level cavity atomic system. Using the effect of nonreciprocity optical dual-bistability, we can obtain different output multi-mode states of probe transmission signal and FWM signal. We find the channel equalization ratio and optical contrast between multi-mode states is related to the degree of dual-bistability. Besides, the degree of dual-bistability can be controlled by the input parameters (frequency detuning and powers of the dressing beams). More, using electro-optical modulator and acoustic optical modulator to modulate the powers and frequency detuning, respectively, we can realize the fast conversion between different output states. And the switch speed of this flip-flop converter is about 16 ns. These outcomes may provide foundation for the development of all-optical devices and quantum information processing.

Abstract :

Fabricating electronics from solid-state quantum emitters is a promising strategy for the miniaturization and integration of electronic devices. However, the practical realization of solid-state quantum devices and circuits for signal transmission and processing at room temperature has remained challenging. Herein, we investigated the multi-bunching phenomenon by generating multi-order fluorescence from a pseudo-thermal source at room temperature using the nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center in diamond. We demonstrate the shift in time of multi-bunching by controlling the effect of dressing to realize logical gates and transistor switching operations. We also suggest the optimization of the time propagation delay (TPD) of the gate circuit by changing the boxcar gate position.

Abstract :

A higher degree of entanglement of entangled sources in quantum communications is always desired and can be achieved with high nonlinear gains. The dressing of atomic coherence and optical pumping can be considered as effective parameters to obtain such entangled sources. In this regard, we have experimentally studied doubly dressed effects in a small range of frequency, and optical pumping and de-pumping effects over a wide frequency range in multi-level atomic system in order to enhance the nonlinear gain. The multi-mode phenomenon that results from the multi-peak of Autler-Townes splitting can be observed at the large beam size of the pinhole of the pump field. Theoretical calculations fit well with the experimentally measured results. The dressing of atomic coherence and optical pumping lead to the enhancement of nonlinear gain up to 8.2 when the original nonlinear gain is 4.7.

Abstract :

We report an experiment about the transformation of radical and azimuthal information of high-order Laguerre-Gaussian beam from the probe beam to dressing four-wave mixing beam. During this process, dressing Kerr nonlinear dispersion causes a spatial splitting on output Laguerre-Gaussian beam. We found that the number of split spots can be controlled by frequency detuning and power of the dressing field. The potential application of such modulated spatial splitting phenomenon on optical switching of the multi-channel router in atomic ensembles is discussed.

Abstract :

For the first time, the energy level structure of the nitrogen-vacancy center in diamond is introduced in conjunction with a spontaneous parametric four-wave mixing (SP-FWM) process and fluorescence (FL) generation in heteronuclear-like (V-type level) systems. The obtained output signals are characterized by their decaying components and differentiated by Rabi oscillation, while their lifetimes are modulated by changing the power of the laser field. Two- and three-mode correlation and squeezing among the SP-FWM and FL composite signals are investigated theoretically and experimentally. By selecting different time delayed positions and changing the power of the laser field, competition between the SP-FWM and FL composite signals is demonstrated; this can also control the two-stage line shape of hybrid correlation and the magnitude of squeezing. Such results may find potential applications in optical transistors and optical hybrid communications.
