Partial Discharges and the Problem of Initial Conditions EI CPCI-S Scopus

Abstract :

The mathematical model of the PD process in the lonely inclusion can be described as a series of discharges at the period of the operation voltage. Distribution of the separate discharge times depends on breakdown correlation, extinction and initial condition voltages and the operation voltage. These factors are deterministic as physical phenomena and are stochastic as a result of their influence on many indefinite stochastic coefficients. It is necessary to conduct the deep analysis of the initial conditions influencing the PD process. The surface PD can arise in the several nearby points that also can be interacted. They can change the initial conditions of each other and change time parameters of the relaxation PD process. Some issues of the several PD arising are investigated. The problem of the several PD interaction is discussed. The modeling results are given.

Abstract :

Multi-layer insulations are commonly used in HVDC applications, giving rise to physical and chemical interfaces in the insulation systems. Space charges at the interface between insulators play crucial roles on the electric field distribution of such insulation systems. The issue arises in the design of high voltage direct current (HVDC) insulations. How to understand the behaviors, mechanisms and effects of interface charges on the electric field distribution? In the past two decades, this specific topic has attracted much interest. Much experimental evidence has shown that interface charges may not follow the classic Maxwell-Wagner-Sillar (MWS) theory. In this paper, the measurement techniques and the phenomena of space charge behaviors at the interfaces between different insulating materials are summarized. It is indicated that surface states should be included in the numerical simulation of the charge and field distributions.

Abstract :

The structural and electrochemical properties of the layered perovskite oxides LaSrC1-xSbxO4 (0 <= x <= 0.20) were investigated to study the effects of substituting Sb for Co for application as cathode materials in intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells (IT-SOFCs). The results of crystal structure analyses show the maximum content of Sb in LaSrCo1-xSbxO4 to be 0.05 as a pure single phase. XPS shows that Co and Sb in LaSrCo0.95Sb0.05O4 may possess mixed-oxidation states. The electrical conductivity increased greatly after Sb substitution. An improvement in the cathode polarization (R-p) values is observed from the Sb-doped sample with respect to the undoped samples. For example, R-p of LaSrCo0.95Sb0.05O4 on LSGM was observed to be 0.16 Omega cm(2) at 800 degrees C in air. The main rate-limiting step for LaSrCo0.95Sb0.05O4 cathode is charge transfer of oxygen atoms. These results indicate that Sb can be incorporated into LaSrCo1-xSbxO4 based materials and can have a beneficial effect on the performance, making them potentially suitable for use as cathode materials in IT-SOFCs.

In this work, porous YFe0.5Co0.5,O-3 (YFC) thin sheets were-synthesized by citric acid method. The crystal structure, morphology, thermal expansion, electrical conductivity, and electrochemical properties of YFC were investigated to evaluate it as a possible cathode on BaZr0.1Ce0.7Y0.2O3 (BZCY) electrolyte for intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells (ITSOFCs). An orthorhombic perovskite structure was observed in YFC. The conductivity of YFC is 183 S cm (-1) at 750 degrees C in air. The coefficient of thermal expansion of composite cathode YFC-BZCY is closer to BZCY electrolyte than YFC. The composite cathode represents a relatively low polarization resistance (R-P) of 0.07 Omega cm(2) at 750 degrees C in air due to the porous thin sheet-like cathode. The oxygen reduction reaction process and the reaction activation energy of cathode were also analyzed. An anode-supported cell of NiO-BZCY IBZCY IYFC-BZCY is fabricated by a simple method of co-pressing. The power density of the cell is 303 mW cm(-2) at 750 degrees C as the thickness of electrolyte is 400 mu m. The results suggest that YFC is a promising cathode candidate for IT-SOFC. Recovery Algorithm for Space Charge Waveform in Coaxial Cable under Temperature Gradient EI SCIE Scopus

Abstract :

The accumulation of space charge in a coaxial cable under high -voltage direct current (HVDC) may lead to the serious distortion of the internal electrical field, and thus extremely affect the long-term reliability of the cable in service. Therefore, it is significant to measure the space charge characteristic in a full-size power cable in real time. However, because of the existence of a temperature gradient across the cable insulation under DC electrical stress, the density of the dielectric will be inhomogeneous. Moreover, the effect of the coaxial structure on the distortion of measuring waveforms has to be taken into consideration. In this paper, an improved pulsed electroacoustic (PEA) system suited for a full-size power cable under a temperature gradient was realized by designing the units of pulse injection and signal detection. Then, the charge density was corrected according to the nonuniform electric stress distribution and the divergent acoustic propagation. Finally, the system transfer function was amended by adding the dispersion coefficient's quadratic approximation to the general solution of the general wave propagation equation. With this new recovery algorithm, the distortion of the waveform caused by the cable's coaxial structure, acoustic waves' attenuation and dispersion, and temperature gradient effect can be recovered successfully.

Abstract :

In this study, the core-shell structured polystyrene@SiO2 (PS@SiO2) microspheres were successfully synthesized by tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) hydrolysis method. The synthesized PS@SiO2 microspheres were subsequently characterized by FTIR spectroscopy, XRD, SEM, and TEM respectively. The results indicated that the particle size of PS@SiO2 microspheres is about 2 gm, and the PS microsphere is uniformly coated by amorphous SiO2 shell. PS@SiO2/cyanate ester (CE)/epoxy resin (ER) composite films were prepared with PS@SiO2 microspheres as fillers and morphology of the films was inspected by AFM. The images showed that the PS@SiO2 microspheres were well-distributed in epoxy matrix. Thermal conductivity of PS@SiO2/CE/ER composite increases 131% by adding 1.0 wt% of PS@SiO2 microspheres. The volume resistivity of composites decreased with increasing of the loading of PS@SiO2 fillers and still keeping an excellent insulating performance. In addition, the dielectric constant as well as the dielectric loss of composites increased with the increased the content of PS@SiO2 microspheres. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Abstract :

The perovskite Sm0.9Sr0.1Fe0.9Ru0.1O3-delta (SSFR) is synthesized and investigated as a new type of symmetrical electrode material for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). X-ray diffraction analysis indicates that SSFR exhibits an orthorhombic structure with a space group of Pnma (62). There are no significant changes in polarization resistance (R-p) after a series of experiments in hydrogen and oxygen atmospheres at 800 degrees C, implying that SSFR has a good redox stability. To get an insight into the rate-limiting steps of SSFR electrode, behavior of R-p, is investigated in different oxygen partial pressures (pO(2)). Generally, the relationship between Rp and pO(2) follows the equation R-p = k(pO(2))(-n) and different n values correspond to different rate-limiting steps. In this study, the n value of 0:5 is obtained for SSFR cathode at high temperature, relating to the diffusion of oxygen atom. In high pO(2), SSFR presents a p-type conducting behavior, with decreasing pO(2), a p-n transition occurs in the range 10(-17) to 10(-18) atm. Additionally, peak power density of the Sm0.2Ce0.8O1.9 (SDC, similar to 0.6 mm) electrolyte -supported symmetrical cell SSFRISDCISSFR achieves 119.69 mW cm(-2) at 800 degrees C using humidified hydrogen (similar to 3% H2O) as fuel. Abstract :

According to our previous experiment, oil flow electrification is closely related to the space charge behaviors in oil-paper insulation system under DC voltage. In this paper, we present a new numerical method to estimate the streaming current in a rectangular paper duct under DC voltage. For the simulation model, we consider the case of laminar flow in a sample of two layers of oil-impregnated-paper and oil between two electrodes. Moreover, on the basis of bipolar transport model, the effects of charge injection and ion mobility are taken into account. Numerical results show that the amplitude of streaming current is always enhanced with the increase of applied voltage. Compared to the result estimated by AC simulation model, the result of our simulation model has larger amplitude, and the consequence of our numerical simulation is in accordance with the experimental results.

In order to investigate the changing regularity of partial discharge(PD) characteristics with voltage cycle, a combined measurement system of surface charge and PD was constructed, and dynamic distribution of surface charge during a PD sequence, as well as the corresponding PD parameters, under variable voltage cycles was measured. Moreover, an approximate calculation method of discharge lag was proposed. It's found from the experiments that surface charge decay becomes obvious, and the distribution of discharge phase will change when voltage cycle increases. After voltage cycle extending to 1 s, no residual charges exist on dielectric surface after the polarity of voltage being reversed, and no back discharge near a voltage zero-crossing point can be obtained, indicating that the effect of residual charges on applied field can be ignored; meanwhile, the first discharge after voltage reversal is completely determined by applied voltage. At last, it is found from the calculation that the time lag increases with the voltage cycle, while it decreases with the increase of voltage amplitude. © 2017, High Voltage Engineering Editorial Department of CEPRI.
