Effect of swirl number on heat transfer characteristics of swirling impinging jets 旋度对旋转冲击射流传热特性的影响 EI Scopus CSCD PKU

Based on the experimental data of swirling impinging jet from published literature, a numerical simulation method with RNG-k-ε turbulence model was developed to accurately simulate heat transfer characteristics of swirling impinging jets. Three types of inserts, screw rod, twisted tape and guide vane, were used to produce the swirl flow. Swirling impinging jets issuing from the nozzles of these inserts were numerically studied. The effect of jet Reynolds number on swirling number at the exit of the nozzles was evaluated and the effect of swirl number on heat transfer of the swirling impinging jets was analyzed. Numerical results show that the large deviation of swirl number occurs as jet Reynolds number is not considered. The swirl number of the swirling jets by the inserts with medium helix angles of 30° and 45° is very sensitive to changes in jet Reynolds number. Different patterns of red spot with high heat transfer rates are shown on the target surface by swirling impinging jet issuing from the nozzles. Shapes and sizes of red spots are related to swirl number of the swirl jets. The peak of Nussle number is increased and the uniformity of heat transfer is enhanced as the swirl number increases. Heat transfer characteristics of the swirling jets depend on the combined effect of jet Reynolds number and swirl number of the jets. The optimum swirl generator is the type of insert with screw rod. Comparing to the other two swirl generators of the inserts with twisted tape and guide vane, the highest heat transfer coefficient with the best uniformity on the target surface by this swirl generator can be achieved under the same working condition.

Abstract :

In order to solve the complexity and dynamic of massive data of complex electromechanical system in process industry, and to put up with fault data precisely and classify the fault types accurately and efficiently, this paper proposes a kernel entropy discriminant analysis method based on information entropy. Firstly, the concept of information entropy is introduced. Because of the redundancy of information, the redundancy degree is related to the uncertainty of information. The average information amount after excluding redundancy can eliminate the effective classification of abnormal patterns. Secondly, the kernel entropy component analysis is used to nonlinearly map and reduce the dimension of the data. The entropy-based parameter selection method is made to calculate steps and KEDA algorithm steps, so as to classify the space after dimension reduction. Finally, the effectiveness of the algorithm is verified by combining with the TE process dataset, and the effectiveness, superiority and rationality of the algorithm are verified by simulation experiments. The results show that KEDA method proposed in this paper has certain application value compared with other methods. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2018.

Abstract :

Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) is a widely used reliability analysis tool for identifying and eliminating known or potential failures in system, design, and process. In traditional FMEA, failure modes are evaluated by FMEA team members with respect to three risk factors: severity (S), occurrence (O), and detectability (D), and ranked via their risk priority number (RPN), which is obtained by multiplying the crisp values of S, O, and D. However, traditional RPN has been considerably criticized due to the following shortcomings: not considering the different weights of risk factors; the identical value of RPN for different combinations of S, O, and D; the diversity and uncertainty of evaluation information given by FMEA team members and without considering the dependence among different failure modes. Although significant efforts have been made in FMEA literatures to overcome these shortcomings, there are still some deficiencies. In this paper, a new risk priority model is presented for FMEA by using the house of reliability (HoR)-based rough VIsekriterijumska optimizacija i KOmpromisno Resenje (VIKOR) approach. In the proposed model, the HoR is introduced to identify the dependence among different failure modes and the link between failure modes and the risk factors of O, D and the subcriteria of S. Rough number is introduced to manipulate the subjectivity and vagueness in decision making and VIKOR approach is used to determine the risk priority order of failure modes in a comprehensive way. Finally, an illustrative case in transmission system of a vertical machining center has demonstrated the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed model.

Abstract :

Point cloud registration is a key process in multi-view 3D measurements. Its precision affects the measurement precision directly. However, in the case of the point clouds with non-overlapping areas or curvature invariant surface, it is difficult to achieve a high precision. A high precision registration method based on sphere feature constraint is presented to overcome the difficulty in the paper. Some known sphere features with constraints are used to construct virtual overlapping areas. The virtual overlapping areas provide more accurate corresponding point pairs and reduce the influence of noise. Then the transformation parameters between the registered point clouds are solved by an optimization method with weight function. In that case, the impact of large noise in point clouds can be reduced and a high precision registration is achieved. Simulation and experiments validate the proposed method.

Abstract :

A novel roll angular displacement measurement method based on acousto-optic modulators (AOMs) is presented, where the AOMs are adopted to reduce the frequency-difference to overcome the phase fluctuation. The novel method improves the resolution and simplifies the system configuration by reducing the optical components in the measuring light path. A mathematical model is established, and the impacts of the optical components' error on measurement errors and magnification are analyzed in detail based on the model. The analysis results can then be used to optimize the system configuration. Experiments are carried out to validate the presented method, which show that a resolution of 0.016 arcsec has eventually been achieved.

Abstract :

False monitoring information is a major problem in process production system and several ineffective methods have been proposed to identify false monitoring information in the production system. In this paper, a new method is proposed to identify false monitoring information based on system coupling analysis and collision detection from the perspective of data analysis. Coupling multifractal features are extracted to reflect the changes in coupling relationship by utilizing the multifractal detrended cross-correlation analysis (MF-DXA). Each monitoring variable in process production system has more than one coupled variable, which can be regarded as multi-source. To achieve low redundancy in features and uniform description of coupling relationship, the feature level information fusion is studied based on modified Mahalanobis Taguchi system (MTS). False alarms are identified when the coupling relationships among the coupled monitoring variables collide. Analysis results of coupled Rossler and Henon datasets indicate the feasibility of this method for selecting the effective coupling feature and uniform description of coupling relationship. The compressor system case of Coal Chemical Ltd. Group is studied and false monitoring information is identified.

Abstract :

The slow speed of compressive holography reconstruction limits its range of applications. The object function matrix has an equally spaced distribution in the reconstruction volume, which leads to the slow speed of compressive holography reconstruction. To improve the reconstruction speed and quality, the object function matrix can be optimized using a weighted spectral function. More specifically, the number and positions of the extrema of the weighted spectral function curve determine the object function matrix. To demonstrate the feasibility and validity of the optimization of the object function matrix in compressive holography reconstruction, we compared it with conventional compressive holography reconstruction using simulations and experiments on multilayer objects. Abstract :

Information modeling for complex electromechanical systems in the processing industry is the foundation for system vulnerability analysis, failure propagation mechanism, and fault root cause tracing driven by data analysis. Focusing on the difficulties in information modeling for complex electromechanical systems, a new approach based on interaction analysis and a general framework for information modeling of complex electromechanical systems are proposed. First, the basic structures of the information model are defined based on monitoring data. Second, an improved symbolic transfer entropy method with procedures for optimizing the number of symbols, phase space reconstruction, binary encoding, and decimal decoding are proposed to detect the interaction direction and quantify the interaction strength between different monitoring variables. Third, some optional methods are introduced to simplify and modify models. Finally, a directed-weighted information model for a specific complex electromechanical system is constructed based on information flow. An actual information modeling application of a complex electromechanical system is used to demonstrate the proposed method and compare it with existing methods. This new approach can handle general information modeling problems and overcome the drawbacks of existing methods since all the monitoring variables are used to improve integrity of the model, and prior knowledge about the physical structure and key points' selection are not required. A unique and complete information model is obtained regardless of the choice of the initial variable. Thus, the proposed method can be flexibly and effectively used in information modeling for complex electromechanical systems in the processing industry and formulate the foundation of system vulnerability analysis, failure propagation mechanism, and fault root cause tracing methodology, as well as other engineering applications.

Measuring objects with high dynamic range (HDR) reflectivity by coded structured-light, captured stripes are usually seriously distorted by reflectivity, causing inaccurate measurement results. A stripe enhancement method is proposed to deal with the problem. The method is based on the correspondence between phase and intensity of the stripe. First, the phase map of the captured stripe pattern is retrieved by phase-shift algorithm and multiexposure method, where saturation and low contrast of the stripe are eliminated; then, the modulation of stripes is normalized to eliminate the influence of reflectivity; finally, the enhanced stripe is obtained by assembling the modulation and the phase map. Experimental results demonstrate that the method is efficient for objects with HDR reflectivity and achieves high accuracy. (C) 2016 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).
